‘Variety is the soul of pleasure.’

After waiting over an hour for her fried chicken only to be told there was none left, the customer complained to the KFC service staff, who then beat her up (video below).

Seems incredulous but its a reflection of the real tension today between Chinese and Malay communities across Malaysia.

Intermarriage between the Malays/Chinese is rare and both education and economic levels remain distinctly separate. In communities like this, that are still segregated culturally, strife is amplified and differences reinforced. We’ve learned that in South Africa, but the same remains true elsewhere in the world, including Malaysia, and perhaps even in our own back yards.

Watch the video, then to avoid the same next time you’re ordering lunch, be the champion of diversity in your community; where difference is celebrated, not feared.
