The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) today released research indicating that nearly 20 percent of Australians, some 3.3 million adults, are mobile-only users and most of these, 2.8 million, have dumped their landline services all together.
As can be expected, this is being driven by our younger generations with mobile only users typically between 25-35 years. The remainder begrudgingly maintain a landline service not for the traditional voice or fax services, but for the sake of fast internet access at home.
Cultural change has always been a powerful driver for economic change. Those who watch culture, can predict future economic trends and enjoy the spoils of being early entrants in emerging markets.
